So, you wanna do as the locals do? Here is a quick, go-to guide for everything you might, or might not need (but could justify buying anyway) in Ketchum.

Clothing

The Board Bin

The Board Bin has outfitted the snowboard community since 1988, and they are still on point when it comes to fashionable clothes and functional gear. Whether you are interested in renting or buying your snowboard gear, The Board Bin will set you up. They also offer two full rooms of clothing for both men and women.

If you prefer a more relaxed, and alternative look, this is your best bet. Additionally, if you’re looking for a good deal on snow gear, shoes, gloves, dresses, bathing suits, hats, wallets, etc., look no further. The sale rack here is always stacked.

If you’re looking for some high quality outdoor technical gear, head over to The Elephant’s Perch on Sun Valley Road. The Perch, as local’s lovingly call it, has a plethora of technical performance gear for all kinds of outdoor activities, as well as a healthy selection of comfortable, everyday attire that will keep you warm.

They’re also one of two stores in the valley that specialize in backcountry skiing. (they also specialize in alpine mountaineering and rock climbing.) If you’re looking for gear that will get you into some gnarlier terrain, this is your one-stop-shop.

Theodore

Theodore is an upscale, fashion-oriented women’s clothing store located in the 511 Building on Leadville Avenue. If you’re okay with spending a pretty penny, and you have a liking for LA fashion, watch out…you may not leave this store empty handed. Theodore’s has been serving the LA community with high quality, comfortable, and eye-catching pieces since 1969, and we are lucky to have a store in Ketchum.

Waste no time in running over to this off-the-beaten-path gem that is packed with great clothes for the season. Additionally, this is Ketchum’s premier flower shop. If you need a bouquet for any occasion, this is the place to go.

Gifts and Goodies

Iconoclast Books & Cafe, located on the east end of town on Sun Valley Road,  is your biggest safety net in town if you forgot to get your mom a gift for her birthday, or you are looking for something to bring home to a loved one.

With shelves upon shelves of books, hilarious cards, and heartwarming gifts, this store has a gift for everyone. Iconoclast has been a local’s favorite for decades, and for good reason. Take some time after you’re done perusing to enjoy their delicious café – the lavender tea with steamed milk and honey comes highly recommended.

Ketchum Kitchens

Ketchum Kitchens in Giacobbi Square is the town’s one and only shop for kitchenware. They carry everything from Soda Streams to Le Creuset pot sets and much more. It’s a great place to find useful gifts that will last for decades. If you’re simply browsing, enter with caution – rarely does a person leave that store without a Ketchum Kitchen’s bag in hand.

Necessities

Chateau Drug Store

Chateau is our local miracle store. If you need it, Chateau is bound to have it. You will find hula hoops and a key copier, free weights and a pharmacy, spray paint and shampoo in this store. This store has served Ketchum locals well for many, many decades and it shows no signs of stopping anytime soon.

If you need an herbal remedy to address a health concern, NourishMe is your best bet in Ketchum. Half of the store is dedicated to natural, herbal and holistic medicines that will feed your soul or care for a cold. In the other half of the store, you will find health food beyond your wildest dreams. Homemade sauerkraut, raw snacks, and juices and smoothies are all on the menu. Grab a quick snack to whet your appetite for your walk back to the hotel.

Once you’ve wrapped up your shopping spree in town, head to the Limelight Lounge for Aprés and Happy Hour…sometimes shopping can be just as much of a workout as skiing!
