Sunday night, after a weekend of snow, snow and some more snow, my fellow Aspen Skiing Company employees and me (the Aspen Skiing Company owns the Limelight Hotel) received an email from our CEO Mike Kaplan stating thus:

Good things come to those who wait, and this snow is definitely a good thing.  So let’s make sure we all take advantage of it, no “Monday morning I gotta work on a powder day” blues allowed!  I’m officially issuing a Hall Pass to the Aspen Snowmass team, so consider this an official command to go out and make some turns tomorrow!  Cancel that morning meeting, submit payroll early, or just get creative and find a way.  If you absolutely cannot make it happen tomorrow, don’t fret or pout, this Hall Pass is good all week, so work with your boss and co-workers to ensure you take advantage of it and get a couple of hours on the hill.  With so much snow in the forecast, Patrol has asked for more skier compaction, so you’ll be helping them out by getting up there.  Rough job, but somebody has to do it, right?  Have fun, be safe, and please thank those who will be out working for making this day possible.

Pretty amazing right? What are you going to do when the boss tells you that? A truly sanctioned powder day? So for Monday (yesterday) a group of coworkers and I made some plans to move our meetings to the gondola, and more specifically, the slopes.

We stumbled into the office around 11:30 am with a smile and a bit of reluctance, but hey- what a great morning! I have added some photos for those who didn’t make it out on Monday. Also, quick apology for the phone photos, we were clearly on a powder mission.
