It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Winter is in full effect in the Rocky Mountains, where the charming mountains towns are decked with holiday lights, and the streets are coated in the white of recent snowstorms. There is nothing more magical than celebrating the holidays with a white Christmas in the mountains. While other parts of the world decorate palm trees in warmer climates, there is something nostalgic about standing under pine trees decorated with light and color as snowflakes fall.

Henning Rahm, General Manager of the Limelight Hotel in Aspen, can’t help but love this magical time of year in the mountains. The holiday season has always been his favorite time of the year since he was a child, for so many reasons. “For me, Christmas is by far the best holiday in terms of spirit and presents, which are just a few of the many reasons I love the holidays. The holidays are a time where people come together despite their differences and who they are. People seem to be happier with holiday cheer,” Henning explains.

Growing up, he always loved seeing the decorations and passing by a house to see a tree lit up in the window. “Christmas is my favorite holiday because the magic that Christmas brings seems to never die. The holidays seem to bring out the best in people,” he adds. And for Henning that hasn’t changed as an adult, looking forward to celebrating the holidays at the Limelight.

“The holiday season is an exciting time of the year, not only for the hotel but for our entire little city. We have decorated our hotel festively and added an Elf on the Shelf to create fun over the course of two weeks for young and old to enjoy the Elf’s magic,” Henning points out proudly.

Over the holidays, the Limelight is even adding a complimentary hot chocolate bar and fresh cookies. When you return from the mountains and it’s cold outside, you can come to the Limelight and enjoy your own perfect hot chocolate of the day. This sugar rush will bring you straight back to good old memories from over the years. If that’s not enough, you can enjoy delicious s’mores outside at one of the many fire pits or try some of our newly created holiday cocktails, i.e. spiked vanilla iced chocolate or cranberry cinnamon whiskey sour.

All of the Limelight Hotels are centrally located in their respective towns, making it easy to be a part of holiday celebrations throughout Aspen, Snowmass, and Ketchum. In Snowmass, Santa’s Village comes to life just steps from the front door of the Limelight, where you can also ice skate under a snowy sky. And don’t miss your chance for a family portrait with Santa at the Limelight Ketchum. In Aspen, make sure to walk by the Sardy House on Main Street, with its 40-foot tall tree fully decorated in the front yard.
