If you’ve checked out our other blog posts, you are already well aware that Aspen and Ketchum have enough physical and cultural activities to keep you moving all waking hours of the day. Instead of rushing back to the hotel for a quick shower to run to dinner, why not spend the night in?

A Cozy Night In

My perfect “night” in begins in the late afternoon with a trip to the pool and hot tub. I’m an avid hiker, so soothing those sore muscles is a total treat at the end of the day. I’ll bring along a book recommended by the literary experts over at Explore Booksellers and order a glass of wine or sangria. There’s no place I would rather be.

Once pool time is over, place your order for a wood fired pizza. Sit at the bar as it’s prepared, or head to your room to change out of your suit. The bar area and lobby are casual enough for you to come down to eat your pizza in yoga pants or sweats. There are a plethora of board games available if you want to stay occupied, although my activity of choice is people watching from the two story windows that wrap around the Lounge.

I definitely have a sweet tooth, so after my pizza dinner (don’t worry, I always order a salad to go along with it), I like to order the S’Mores Kit. It’s enough graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate for two people. Take the kit out to one of the Limelight’s patios and enjoy your self-made treats under the stars.

Cuddle Up

Because I live in Aspen, I’ll take my dog along with me to a “staycation” at the Limelight. If you’ve traveled with your pup in tow, you’ll love cuddling up to the fire with a mug of hot chocolate. We get down to the high 40s in summer months so you may want to crack the window for fresh mountain air and throw on one of the Limelight’s ultra cozy robes. If you really want to warm up, sneak a shot of Rumplemintz from the fully stocked bar in the Limelight’s Lounge into your hot chocolate.

If hot chocolate isn’t your thing, pick up a bottle of wine in the Lounge or at any of the local liquor stores located within walking distance of the hotel. My favorite, Carl’s Pharmacy, is just two blocks away and boasts an amazing selection. Limelight rooms are stocked with wine glasses and an opener so you won’t be stuck searching for a screw-top bottle and plastic cups.

After you’ve fully exhausted yourself from your cozy night in, hit the sack. There’s something luxurious about dozing off before your standard bedtime, knowing that you’ll wake up refreshed and energized the next morning.
